Troms Fylkestrafikk and Nobina Norway in agreement not to utilise full extension option

Troms Fylkestrafikk has decided not to utilise the full extension option with Nobina Norway for bus services in Tromsö. The extension that could have stretched to a maximum of three years will thus be one and a half years. The extension will come into force in February 2018 and services will be operated by Nobina until 31 July 2019. The agreement comprises 127 scheduled buses.

“We are satisfied that Troms Fylkestrafikk has chosen to initiate a new tender process and not utilise the full extension option. It is also positive that the start-up of new traffic services will take place in summertime due to some of the operational challenges in Tromsö,” says Jan Volsdal, Managing Director of Nobina Norway AS.

Nobina started operating regional transport in Tromsö in February 2012 and the parties have now agreed that the contract will end on 31 July 2019. Under the terms of the agreement, Nobina will also replace four of the existing buses with four new buses already by the end of the summer of 2017.
