Nobina secures contract for bus services in Linköping — electric bus initiative
Nobina has been awarded a ten-year contract by Östgötatrafiken to operate and work jointly to develop bus services in Linköping, both city and regional transport services. The agreement is worth approximately SEK 2.6 billion and involves 87 scheduled buses. The contract includes an initiative using electric-powered articulated buses, new routes and more frequent services.
Traffic is scheduled to start on 15 June 2020. About 15 of the city buses in Linköping will be electric-powered articulated buses. The remaining buses used in city and regional transport will operate on biogas. All of the buses will be equipped with Wi-Fi, digital information screens and USB sockets. The contract is a major investment in public transport, entailing a production increase of 30 per cent. It includes new routes and more frequent services.
“We are proud that Östgötatrafiken has extended its confidence in us to develop and operate bus services in Östergötland. We will work together so that more people will choose to travel by public transport. The contract will also allow Nobina to share and expand our expertise in complete solutions for electric bus services,” says Henrik Dagnäs, CEO of Nobina Sweden.
The award decision can be appealed until 11 February 2019.
