Nobina Awarded New Contract for Bus Services in Värmland
Nobina has been awarded a new contract to continue operating public bus services across the County of Värmland from summer 2029. The award was announced by Region Värmland and Värmlandstrafik on 3 November. The new ten-year agreement covers urban and regional bus services, on-demand transport solutions, and rail replacement services, reinforcing Nobina's role in developing and delivering public transport throughout the county.
"We are proud of the continued trust placed in us by Värmlandstrafik. This award reflects both the strong partnership we have built together and the dedication demonstrated by our employees every day. We now look forward to continuing the development of public transport in Värmland and providing residents with sustainable, reliable, and attractive travel opportunities," says Martin Pagrotsky, Managing Director of Nobina Sweden.
Nobina has operated regional bus services in Värmland for decades and has also been responsible for Karlstad's urban bus network since 2025. Under the new agreement, all bus services in the county will be integrated into a single operation comprising approximately 200 scheduled vehicles.
The new contract includes a revised operational and fleet structure, featuring a new depot in Eriksberg, Karlstad, more double-decker buses on key trunk routes, and continued electrification of the fleet. Parts of the trunk network will be operated with double-decker buses, while urban services in Karlstad and Hammarö will remain fully electrified.
Operations under the new contract will commence on 1 July 2029, with the agreement running until June 2039.
The contract award decision may be appealed until 13 November 2026.
