Nobina’s Leadership Promise – a commitment to ourselves, each other, and our employees
At Nobina, leadership is about creating opportunities, driving development, and inspiring success. Our leadership promise is a reflection of this belief, guiding leaders to support their teams and shape a workplace where both business and people can thrive.
Nobina’s leadership promise serves as a valuable tool that shapes how we lead, make decisions, and create the best possible conditions for our employees’ success. For our employees, it provides clarity on how their manager can support them, ultimately opening up more opportunities for growth.
“Leadership always starts with me—how I act, how I lead, and how I create opportunities for my team to succeed. By leading by example, staying curious, and understanding my employees’ challenges, I help create the best conditions for success. That’s what our leadership promise is – a commitment to my colleagues, my employees, and to myself.”
Of course, Nobina’s leadership promise is rooted in our core values and is built on our three leadership criteria: engaged, brave, and business minded. Being a leader at Nobina means being present with your team, having the courage to make decisions, even when it’s uncomfortable, and exploring new paths that can develop the business.
“Nobina’s leadership promise is a commitment to our employees, clearly defining what they can expect from leaders at Nobina. At the same time, the promise provides leaders with tools to steer in the right direction, while employees gain trust in their managers.”
Nobina’s Leadership Promise
As a leader, I make sure to understand our business and clearly communicate our goals. I lead by example with accountability and the readiness to make brave decisions.
Guided by our values, I create a culture where every voice matters, actively seeking new perspectives and business opportunities beyond the conventional. I create optimal conditions for our success and provide meaningful feedback to affirm your value to the team and to Nobina.
“Leadership is a team effort”
Jonas Kristoffersen has always dreamed of driving a bus—especially at Nobina. In 2021, that dream became a reality, and today, he is not only a valued colleague but also an award-winning leader.
“A friend of mine told me that Nobina is the best place to work, so as soon as I got my license, I applied,” Jonas recalls.
That decision turned out to be the right one. After joining Nobina as a driver in 2021, Jonas is now a team manager for over 100 drivers at Nobina Nesodden. His leadership is widely appreciated, and last fall, he won Nobina’s leadership award in Norway. His impact hasn’t only been felt by colleagues and team members—it has also caught the attention of local news, which featured his leadership in a special report.
“It’s really heartwarming to be appreciated in so many ways. Knowing that my colleagues enjoy working with me means a lot,” says Jonas.
Trust and openness as the foundation
For Jonas, the key to successful leadership lies in several things, but it always starts with building strong relationships with his team.
“I believe trust and openness are the foundation. It creates confidence between me and my team members, making the workplace safe and the team strong,” says Jonas.
Another crucial aspect is understanding his employees’ daily challenges to support them in the best way possible.
“To be able to support, I need to understand my team’s reality. Of course, it helps that I’ve been a driver myself, but just as important is being present and listening. Communication is key—it’s about both listening and being able to provide feedback, clarify expectations, and create engagement.”
Knowledge is always evolving
Being a great leader isn’t just about guiding others—it’s also about continuous self-development. This is something Jonas sees as an essential part of his role.
“I believe knowledge is something we constantly need to refresh, and I’m still new as a leader. I have many experienced colleagues around me, and I try to learn from them every day. I’m also open to new ideas—often, my team members have the best solutions to the challenges they face, so I make sure to listen to them.”
Jonas also strongly believes that leadership is a team effort.
“I don’t think we ever stop learning. Understanding that leadership is something we do together—where we both listen and lead—is, in my opinion, the key to success.”
