Nobina wins bus traffic contracts worth almost SEK 1,4 billion

In a tender process in Finland, Nobina has won contracts to operate urban and regional traffic in Esbo and Helsinki on behalf of HSL, the Helsinki region PTA. The new contracts commence on 15 August 2016 and extend over a period of seven years, with the possibility of a three-year extension. The total value over the seven-year period is estimated at almost SEK 1,4 billion.

The decision of the Helsinki region PTA means that Nobina’s successful work is continuing.

“It is positive that HSL has given us a renewed vote of confidence to operate public transport.
I am pleased with our continued market leading position in the capital region of Finland”, says Ragnar Norbäck, President and CEO of Nobina.

The new contracts cover 94 buses. Nobina will invest in 41 new buses, all of which have Euro 6-engines and some of which are lightweight buses with lower emissions and fuel consumption. Under the contracts, there is a possibility to increase compensation through a high customer satisfaction level during the contract period.

“We are pleased with the result, which strengthens Nobina Finland’s possibilities to further improve public transport and the customer satisfaction rate in the HSL area. We look forward to also in the future, together with HSL, welcoming more, and more satisfied, customers to public transport”, says Tom Ward, head of Nobina Finland.

The award decision can be appealed not later than 29 December 2015.
