Nobina secures tender in Oslo region for NOK 2,7 billion

Nobina has been entrusted once more by Ruter to continue to develop and operate bus services in the Oslo region. The total value of the contract is estimated at about NOK 2,7 billion over the contract period of eight years, with the option to extend by three years. Traffic is scheduled to start in July 2019 and comprises a total of 141 buses, including 22 electric buses.

Nobina is expanding its position and ability to offer electric and fossil-free transport solutions in the Norwegian market. The initiative is part of Ruter’s ambition to work together with operators to achieve fossil-free public transport where all buses will be operating on renewable fuel from the start of traffic.

“We are proud of the trust shown in us by Ruter. This will enable us to develop public transport in the Oslo region and also to use our expertise and experience to establish electric bus services on a broader scale. At the same time, we can help provide both better public transport and better air quality in line with Ruter’s targets,” says Jan Volsdal, CEO of Nobina Norway.

Through this initiative, Nobina hopes to contribute to a robust and efficient transport solution with new and modern buses that provide good quality and more comfortable journeys for passengers in the northern Oslo region.

The buses will be equipped with a real-time Backend as a Service (BaaS) system, which will enable new digital services and solutions to satisfy current and future passenger needs.

The award decision can be appealed until 22 April 2018.
