Nobina continues to grow in Finland – new contract in Turku

The City of Turku has awarded a new contract to Nobina to operate and develop city transport services in the Turku region. The contract is worth more than EUR 71 million over eight years, with an option for two additional years. The contract’s focus is sustainability and the environment.

Traffic is scheduled to start in July 2021. In total, the contract will include 42* fully electric bogie buses. This will offer greater comfort and sustainability both on board the bus and in the urban environment as a whole as the electric buses are quiet and free from emissions. All of the buses are also equipped with USB sockets and infotainment, which provide passengers with clear and relevant information about their journey.

We are proud that the City of Turku has entrusted us to operate city bus services in the Turku region. This contract will enable us to expand our expertise in electric buses and allow us to provide public transport services that are even more sustainable,” says Petri Auno, Managing Director, Nobina Finland.

* The contract award both replaces and supplements the original tender, which was announced on 14 January 2020.
